Mamikon Nakhapetov is one of the most excellent pianists of his generation. His extraordinary talent shows not only in his international concert career as a solo pianist and part of chamber music groups but also by numerous awards in competitions.
Also, he is often invited to take part in music festivals at home and abroad. He played at the “Autumn Tbilisi Festival”, at the “Khachaturian International Festival”, at the “Oleg Kagan Music Festival”, “Max Reger-Tage”, “Schleswig-Holstein Music Festval” and at the “Menuhin Festival Gstaad”. In October 2017, at the “Telavi International Music Festival” in Georgia he performed the Mozart Double Concert in E flat major, KV 365, together with his teacher Eliso Virsaladse.
Mamikon Nakhapetov won quite a number of international piano competitions in Tiflis, St. Petersburg, Jerewan, Cagliari, Bratislava, Roma, Bergen, Verona, and Istanbul. Besides he took part in several renowned competitions like the “Concours Géza Anda” in Zurich, the “Chopin Competition” in Warsaw, the “Tchaikovsky-Competition” in Moscow and the “International Bach-Competition” in Würzburg.
Nakhapetov‘s latest award was a third prize at the “International Piano Competition Jean Françaix” in Paris in May 2019 as well as a second at the “Concurso Internacional de Piano” in Campillos in December 2018. In September 2018 he won the first prize at the “Johannes Brahms Competition” in Pörtschach. A special award gave him the chance to give a solo concert in the Brahms-auditorium of the “Musikverein Vienna”.
Born in Georgia, Mamikon Nakhapetov started his musical training as a pianist and violinist at the state professional school for music with Nana Chikvaidze, Davit Reisner and Akvsenti Megrelidze. He finished his studies at the state conservatory in Tiflis with Svetlana Korsantia, Nodar Gabunia and Nana Khubutia and got a master diploma for piano. Already during his studies in Georgia Nakhapetov was awarded scholarships of the foundation of Georgias president Eduard Shewardnadze, “New Names”, of the “Heinrich-Neuhaus-Institute”, as well as of the pianists Elisabeth Leonskaja and Manana Doijashvili. Nakhapetov continued his studies as a solo pianist and accompanist of singers at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich” in master courses with Eliso Virsaladze and Helmut Deutsch.
Since 2008 he has been teaching himself at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich” and works as a piano accompanist with the violin class of Ana Chumachenco and the singer class of Christiane Iven and Lars Woldt.
