Michel Petrossian

France

Composer

Michel Petrossian studied at the CNSM in Paris and quickly devoted himself to composition. Passionate about ancient civilisations, he also obtained a Master’s degree in classical literature at the Sorbonne. During a long stay at the French Archaeological School in Jerusalem, his field studies led him to take an interest in the music of the ancient Near East, whose influence will irrigate his compositional work.

Michel Petrossian is the winner of the Grand Prize for Composition of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. A monographic CD of his vocal music will be recorded in autumn 2021 by the Musicatreize Ensemble, and his ballet Sept, les Anges de Sinjar – commissioned by the Festival du Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo – will be premiered on 27 March 2022.
